We are an empowering, innovative and inclusive student-led Union; championing our members’ interests and providing a community that is their home away from home. This is an excellent time to join us at the University of Leicester Students’ Union and make a major contribution to our newly launched 2018-21 strategic plan.

Our plan for the coming three years focuses the Union on stretching ourselves in the three core areas of our work: Student Voice, Opportunities and Support. We have stretching annual targets set for each priority, which we’ll refresh on an annual basis; blended with super KPIs in each area to indicate the strength of progress being made. By 2021, we will be a more active and inclusive Union with a powerful student-led voice; delivering greater meaningful change across the full Leicester experience.

The Union is governed by a Board of Trustees, comprising five Full-Time Officer Trustees, a non-Officer Student Trustee and five External Lay Trustees (recruited for their expertise and experience). The Chief Executive and staff work alongside the Full-Time Officer Trustees to run the Union.

We are looking for two exceptional people to join our Trustee Board and work with us to help in delivering the very best for our members, as we move into the first year of our new strategy. 

The successful applicants will join a dynamic Trustee Board who will play a critical role in guiding the development of the Union and pushing us to deliver our vision for the organisation. In return, you will play a key role in the futures of over 22,000 students each year, participate in quarterly Board meetings and be invited to key events in our calendar.

To strengthen the existing skillset on our board, we would particularly welcome applicants with a strong knowledge or professional expertise in Finance, Further Education, Higher Education, or the legal profession. To reflect the diversity of our student community, we welcome applications from women and anyone from BME backgrounds.
