Come work with us at UCLan SU

Our Mission is to ‘make life better for students’. We do this by representing students and their interests, by creating change, by helping students when they need it and providing great opportunities for them through societies, events and student support services. We are proud of our independence and the job we do.

To make sure we respond to things students care about we make sure they are at the heart of our decision-making processes. Our Union Plan, built on student feedback about the Union and the democratic bodies that govern our activities involves students at every level. Each year we hold elections to elect our President elected Officers to represent students and campaign on issues that affect them. We believe our democracy is an important strength and think it is great that so many students get involved in the union.

Within our building, located in the heart of campus, you will find an Advice Centre, over 150 sports clubs & societies and part-time job opportunities alongside Source Bar, Essentials student shop and the Atrium café.

Every student at UCLan is automatically a member of the Union that is a Company Limited by Guarantee as well as a registered charity.

The opportunity to become a Trustee of the UCLan Students' Union is an exciting prospect, allowing you to use your knowledge and experience to make a positive difference to the lives of students at the University, in the City of Preston and beyond. You will work with and support elected student Trustees as a member of a 10 strong Board committed to the successful future of one of the UK's best students' unions. Working with and developing elected officers you will be part of a team that delivers great experiences for students.

Our ideal candidate will have the knowledge and experience of developing strong sustainable organisations, be able to provide the right balance of support and challenge to the Chief Executive and be committed to our objectives and values of student leadership.

We would particularly welcome a trustee with some experience of Human Resources.
