Help shape the lives of thousands of young people by joining Union of Kingston Students’ Trustee Board

Kingston University sits proudly at the heart Kingston upon Thames and is only a 30 minute train journey from central London.

The students’ union currently supports a diverse student body of over 15,000 students who study across 4 key campuses. We are a lean union who work hard to enrich the lives of our students through representation, 100+ societies, competitive and non-competitive sport, volunteering and advice.

We have undergone considerable change over the last few years, but we are now in need of an experienced Trustee who can help us move forward and shape our strategy. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who has an interest in working alongside young people and helping them make important decisions.

About our Board

Our Board includes seven elected student trustees and four external trustees. The successful applicant will be required to attend 4 – 6 full meetings a year and potentially 2 – 4 sub-committee meetings as well as undertake the background and preparation work associated with being an effective trustee. There will be additional training days which will be at the discretion of the Board and which Trustees will be expected to attend.

Who are we looking for?

We are currently seeking an external Trustee with a strong background in HR and preferably CIPD qualified. However, if you have other skills and experience that you think could benefit our trustee board, we are keen to hear from you in case future vacancies arise. You will also be someone with managerial level experience and demonstrable experience of strategy development.

As a university with a diverse student population we particularly welcome applications from BAME candidates as they are under-represented within the Union at this level.

If you have any questions about the role, please contact Patrick Tatarian, our Union Development Officer, on p.j.tatarian@kingston.ac.uk.
