Come join us at City University Students' Union

With a rich history spanning over 100 years, City, University of London Students’ Union is the primary organisation representing the views of over 19,000 students at City, University of London to the institution and beyond.  The Board of Trustees comprises of ten Trustees, including the three full-time officers, who work with the small staff team and hundreds of student volunteers to run a thriving and active students’ union in the heart of London.

The Union has gone through extensive development over the past 12 months including becoming a charitable company limited by guarantee, recruiting a number of new staff, moving into new premises and having a substantial increase in its block grant.  This is however only the beginning of its transformation as it continues to implement its existing strategic plan and seeks out further opportunities for growth, development and improved satisfaction for students.

The Union delivers a range of services and support for its members, from independent academic advice to supporting our Programme Reps to enhance their course, to promoting the employability and development of students. The Union also runs a shop, which sells a range of products, including ethically sourced University branding clothing, merchandise, confectionary and stationary.

The Union is looking for two new Trustees who are sympathetic to the aims of the organisation and more generally share a commitment to the broader values of the student movement.  In particular, the successful candidate will need to have skills, knowledge and expertise in at least one of the following areas:

  • Human resources, staff development and managing people.
  • Commercial awareness and business planning and innovation.
  • Communications – public relations and digital marketing.
